From its striking colour to its flattering silhouette, Malaika Arora’s crimson sari checks all the boxes for a unique pre-wedding look. We know where you can buy the exact same piece online
“The coming of a sari with the colour red defines power unlike anything else,” says Amit Aggarwal, referring to Malaika Arora’s stunning pre-draped sari worn for a high-profile wedding in February 2020. This is not the first time the actor was spotted in a head-turning piece by the couturier. Aggarwal, best renowned for using non-traditional materials and constantly reinventing classic Indian silhouettes, has found favour with Arora on several occasions. There was the cobalt blue pre-stitched sari she opted for Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s reception, and even a Patola concept drape for a party in 2017 among her other looks. But Arora’s red number is one you need to check out if you’re putting together your trousseau. Keep reading to check it out.
Malaika Arora’s crimson pre-draped sari came with stunning details
In case you can’t recollect, Malaika Arora wore the red pre-stitched sari from Amit Aggarwal’s ‘Lumen’ collection for actor Armaan Jain and stylist Anissa Malhotra’s star-studded post-wedding party in Mumbai. The evening saw a number of A-listers from Bollywood including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Ananya Panday, Kiara Advani and more. While lehenga seemed to be a clear choice among most celebrities, Arora stood out in the designer’s signature concept drape. “It’s a modern pre-draped sari teamed with a structured blouse and intricately textured palla,” reveals Aggarwal to describe her look.
According to him, the statement ensemble took over 175 man hours to complete. “The drape is crafted from satin and organza, and complemented with a sleeveless polymer moulded blouse. The highlight is the embroidered pallu made with pleated chiffon and enhanced with tape and glass beads in the form of a haleconia flower.”
Malaika Arora wore gemstone jewels to complete her Amit Aggarwal look
Malaika Arora took full advantage of the plunging neckline of her blouse by going all-out with an ornate neckpiece and ring by jewellery designer Farah Khan. Her choice: a layered diamond necklace encrusted with rubies. Instead of picking a contrasting piece with sapphires or emeralds or playing it safe with all-diamond necklace, Arora gave an interesting styling hack by going tone-on-tone with her accessory game too. She even went ahead and picked a pair of red heels and clutch to round it off. Her makeup, however, balanced the otherwise crimson look with neutral tones of taupe on the eyelids and lip. Arora went with a sleek blowdry to complete it.
“A pre-draped creation, like Malaika’s, blends in the traditional yet contemporary beauty of a sari and comfort of a gown, making it versatile pick for any special occasion,” adds Amit Aggarwal. Brides on the hunt of a unique option for their sangeet or cocktail party must surely consider it. Want to invest in the exact same sari as hers?
